Welcome to KidsZone!

Welcome to the Illinois KidsZone, a website for kids in the talking book program.

This site has links to great books to read, great sites to go to,and information for teachers, librarians, parents, and kids about the talking book program.

The talking book program is open to anyone of any age who cannot read or hold a regular print book because of a visual problem, a physical challenge, or a learning disability.

The program is nationwide and everything is free! If you would like an application and more information on the program, call the Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service at 1-800-665-5576, option 5. You can also email us for more information! We will send you an application, brochures, and catalogs of books available.

TumbleBookLibrary for children! (Login required: call 217-785-9038 for help) Animated, audiobooks for children! Click on this link to download the free Flash player you will need to view and listen to the books. The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) TumblePuzzles, TumbleQuizzes and TumbleResources for Teachers. TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which they have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format.

TumbleReadables (Login required: call 217-785-9038 for help) TumbleReadables are a collection of large print electronic books which allows you to read books online by simply clicking a button. TumblePad Reader, with its innovative font size slider, enables the viewer to raise the font size to up to 34 point, bringing the joy of reading to young and old.

TumbleTalkingBooks! (Login required: call 217-785-9038 for help) TumbleTalkingBooks is an online, 24/7 audio book library that includes unabridged high quality audio versions of classics of American and world literature, non-fiction, fiction, and children and teen books. TumbleTalkingBooks is ideal for readers of all ages and abilities and those learning English as a second language.
